The importance of listening to a book read aloud is enormous! Students can cultivate and strengthen a love of reading, they can improve their decoding and reading comprehension, as well as increase their exposure to vocabulary! All of these things are crucial for all children, and even more so for ELLs (English Language Learners). My goal is to create a listening library for my students. This would include a CD player as well as headphones for students to listen to CDs or mp3s of books read aloud. This would also include the accompanying picture book for students to follow along as they listen.
