Kids thrive when they are moving frequently and working comfortably. I've found even my most reluctant readers come to life when they can tuck themselves into a corner of the desk or on the rug and get lost in their book of choice. I pictured a classroom where students, like our modern world, can choose a comfortable place to work collaboratively during the school day. These flexible seating options, seats and calm cushions, will help my students collaborate in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Typically during a lesson, students are invited to work with their groups to share their thinking and put their minds together. Hardly you will see two business leaders or professionals sitting side by side in metal desks when they have to discuss important information. With flexible seating, students feel like the classroom mirrors the real world and they have autonomy in choosing a workspace. This helps promote self-determination in students and a positive work environment overall. The dry erase sleeves can help students discuss their work as they move around the room. Promoting teamwork and learning from your mistakes is a valuable lesson they can use inside and out of the classroom as they revise and edit work together. These materials help mirror our technology-driven world today, as business leaders and professionals settle down in Starbucks, Panera, and places in our community to work productively on their devices.
