I am a new teacher at HJH and I am starting a program for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. The materials will be used to set up my classroom, to create a safe place for students to process through their feelings, and to learn how to be the leaders of tomorrow. We will be working a lot with restorative circles, and I want the students to feel comfortable opening up and participating in group activities. People who go through the hard times are stronger for it, they just need a little help sludging through the mud. Instead of becoming a victim of the situation they are dealt with, through intervention they will learn to become the leaders of tomorrow. Each week we will have various activities and lessons to help them channel the good. We will slowly work our way through the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People". Teaching them positive ways to be leaders, something they may not see outside of school.
