This project will help me create a classroom environment that feels safe, welcoming, accommodating, and flexible for my variety of students. As a first-year teacher, I need supplies that will help me design a room where students want to go to learn about subject matter and about themselves and who they are and want to be. For example, as we prepare for a field trip, the book entitled Some Kind of Courage, will help us learn about the Plateau region of Washington in a classroom environment with flexible seating and color. These supplies will allow my students to work in a way that will help them learn best, such as through color-coding and flexible seating. The book set ties in with curriculum and will allow students to be exploring new lands in multiple ways.
