Reading opens the door to the world! What a better way to engage Middle School scholars from a small community to learn to love literature and learn about the world with books of their interest! Throughout the year, many students have requested books about mystery, sports, romance, you name it! As a first year teacher, our classroom library is small. I have ordered a few books to engage my scholars and their reaction to the books is amazing! Their eyes shine with excitement, they come the next day discussing the book with enthusiasm, and they ask for more! With this classroom library, I want my scholars to read because they enjoy it not because it is assigned. The selection of books has been made by the students interests and requests, but also by ensuring that the texts are rigorous to expand their learning. These books will truly help my students spark the love for reading.
