This project is a way for the A.C.C.E.S.S. students (special education) to access their community in a fun and enjoyable way. The students will be learning safety, social skills, and functional life skills during this field trip. They are practicing safety as we walk to the ballpark facility, social skills as they interact with the staff and other students at the ballpark and adaptive skills as they dress for the weather that day, use their tickets to get in as well as match their ticket number with the seat number. Our families work so hard getting their students out into the community, that as a school we want to give back. We want to continue to work with our students on how to appropriately and safely access their community in real life situations. We strive to teach and then apply the knowledge we have acquired and this is a great way of doing that.
