Keeping students full of healthy snacks is important to them being able to focus during our reading block. We do get fresh fruit a couple times a week from the school, but days where it is not provided, the majority of students have grumbly tummies until lunch. This leads to a loss of focus, sleepiness, and outbursts during our reading rotation time. My students are noticeably more engaged, focused, and willing to think critically when they have a morning snack, however I am unable to continuously supply one for every child. Students can achieve more when they have full bellies!
