"Maniac Magee" is an award-winning book that focuses on important and relevant issues such as homelessness and family, racism, friendship, and the importance of school and literacy. I am looking forward to reading this book with my students to encourage critical thinking skills, enhance reading comprehension, and develop necessary skills that will improve literacy. After we finish reading this novel, students will use the information from the story to create an interactive display that they will present to their classmates. My 6th grade students thrive off project-based learning and enjoy showing their mastery of the content that they are learning by completing hands-on activities.
