One important aspect of learning about art is teaching students how to “read” an art work by guiding them through inquiry based conversations based off of images relevant to their study. It’s exciting to watch their expressions as they become comfortable with the process and trust their interpretations. This helps solidify their comprehension and confidence as they begin their projects. Currently I’m use my desktop as the screen to show art images and lessons for all my classes. It’s not wireless and very cumbersome having to turn the entire screen around to face my seated class. Having a TV screen which is able to mirror lessons and related art images from my laptop will help immensely. Using a large screen will give me the ability to juxtapose images as well as have the lesson prompts visible at the same time. I teach grades K-8 and it’ll be a tremendous time saver not having to handwrite my daily lessons for each class on the whiteboard every period. My daily lessons and images for all my classes can be cued up for the entire day on my laptop to be mirrored on the TV and accessible at a click on my laptop. The images will be large enough for all students to see and read easily. Life in my classroom will change immensely for both myself and my students. I’ll gain precious time both and all my grade level classes will be thrilled to finally see large images of the art work their studying, ease in reading the lesson and even go on virtual museum visits around the world. Learning about art will be enhanced exponentially!
