I obtained National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in the area of Exceptional Needs in 2011. It was a lengthy and rigorous process, and it helped me to improve so much as an educator. This process caused me to be more self-evaluative and critically analyze how to impact student learning.
Achieving NBPTS is one of the highest levels of achievement for educators. As educators improve their knowledge and skills, there is a direct correlation to student learning and achievement. It propels educators to consider their students’ strengths and needs and how they will use effective strategies and research-based methods to help their students thrive in school. It is a self-reflective professional development opportunity that provides significant and sustaining growth for educators, which results in enhanced learning and improved instruction for students.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve my students and work to improve their goals and objectives. It is my desire to continue my pursuit of learning and professional development so that I can continue to provide my students with high-quality instruction. Renewing NBPTS not only cultivates my love of learning and desire to improve but also results in continued success for my students.
