My goal is to help my students continue to become college and career ready by increasing the use of STEM activities in my classroom. The resources requested will introduce my students to new areas of math, science and technology that they currently do not have access to. Our current classroom does not have any access to tablets which makes it difficult to teach coding and other technology lessons. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2020 there will be 1.4 million new computer science jobs. However, between current professionals and university students, we will only have 400,000 computer scientists trained to fill those roles. By funding this project you would provide early access to STEM education for my 2nd grade students. My goal is to increase student's interest in computer science by presenting technology focused curriculum and using coding apps such as SCRATCH. The OSMO kit also provides a fun-filled & Award winning learning games that interact with actual hand held pieces & a fire tablet, bringing a child's game pieces & actions to life.
