After learning about the Sphero Spark at Space Camp, I became determined to get them in the hands of my language learners! The STEAM possibilities are endless with these programmable robots. From practicing letters with my first graders to modeling geometric shapes with my third graders to building coding skills with my fifth graders, these Spheros will be put to good use inspiring students who benefit from hands-on experiences that truly bring learning to life. Many of the students I work with are struggling learners; kids who balance a language at home and another at school. I also lead an after school club for fifth graders as part of the Will County Aerospace Team, where we build skills in problem solving, communication and team work while preparing for a simulated mission to Mars. Materials like these Spheros will help open their minds to the world of possibilities that is ahead of them, and help them consider what their future might be if they’re creative and brave enough to try something new!
