Books can serve as windows to a world of further learning and imagination. Each week we have a new theme in our classroom. Themed books or mentor texts can greatly enhance a student's learning as it gives them a chance to not only practice fundamental reading skills and concepts, but also allows them to take a trip in their mind as they immerse themselves in things they are interested in and learning about inside of the classroom. Building a love for reading is so important at this age as it is fundamental for a lifetime of learning. As a first year teacher, I am excited to continue to build my classroom library so that I can better foster their love for reading.
