Graphics tablets are common drawing tools used by professional animators, architects, digital photographers, and other visual artists. They connect to a computer and allow students a large drawing surface and pen. This is a much more natural feeling than drawing with a mouse. Our computer lab has had the same graphics tablets for 5 years because we take good care of our technology. However, the pens have mostly broken down after so much wear, and there are no longer replacements on the marketplace. Graphics tablets will enable all students in a class to easily modify their photographs, create custom drawings, hand-drawn animations, and much more. Many of our students wish to pursue careers in animation, graphic design, and architecture. This will give them the necessary skills for those career paths.
