If my project is funded, I will utilize the materials to enhance my students' knowledge of food shopping. They will be able to select items based on the four food group and/or meal preference. Also it will increase their Math skills of identifying coins/bills and understanding the value of money. This project will give them the opportunity to practice grocery shopping before going to a local grocery store (Community Based Instruction) to purchase food items for the classroom and home. My students are fortunate to have the support of their parents, who have agreed to provide them with opportunities to shop at home after each lesson. Also, the parents will provide their student with a shopping list to purchase items during our Community Based Instruction field trips.
