Do you know that most of our neighboring school districts provide one-to-one technology opportunities for their students? However, in a district whose zipcode is less than five minutes away from these more affluent districts, my students do not have the same materials and resources. Currently, the ratio for our student to technology is 1 to 3. These are the learners who need them more because most of their families cannot pay for them to have devices at home to help further their education. When they go home at night, they don't have the same opportunities to pursue their education further because they don't have the same tools as their peers in different school districts. How is this fair?
As Oprah Winfrey states, "I don't think you ever stop giving, I really don't. I think it is an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a check. Its being able to touch somebody's life." By providing more Chromebooks to my school you will be touching my students' lives. You will be preparing them to escape the life of poverty. Do you know on average, poor individuals only have a 1 out of 3 chance of escaping poverty in any given year. Deepening students' education is the key to success and YOU can help to accomplish this mission.
As Chromebooks help make learning real and Google apps are easy to manage. They give students access to the information they need to be successful in school, and in life. Chromebooks allow for collaboration, a skill needed for success the world.
