My students love authentic text.such as articles about teen problems such as walking and texting or lack of sleep because of cellphone use. Scope magazine provides real-world teen issues for students to dive into. They are motivated to read when the material has text features and text structures that grab their attention. Students can analyze the articles such as "Do Cell Phones Make Us Sick?" These articles are relevant to the students's culture and environments. Using Scope magazines, students will read argumentative essays which are beneficial because they allow students to see both sides of an argument. They can read Scope magazines and texts sets are valuable resources for my students.
