Think back to your fondest memories of reading a story on your mom's lap...Or reading to your own child...It is a simple and treasured joy to read to your child and share the joy of a book...To get lost in a story and fall in love with characters and to be swept away in a good story while in the comfort of your parents' lap. Now imagine that you have made the leap to move to a new country. You are striving and working for a better life for you and your family. You child comes home with their library book from school, and....it's in a language you cannot read or understand! In my classroom, I have taken that barrier away from my students and their families and I have created a bilingual library for my immigrant families. I want each and every family in my classroom to know the joy of sharing a story, and for no child to be excluded from this simple pleasure of reading together with their mother or father. Please help me grow my library, so that all of my students may share in the wonderful memories of reading together!
