Many of my kindergarten kiddos are "right there" and ready to read. Although I have been reading through curriculum read-alouds, it will be beneficial for them to continue to hear proper reading in order to better duplicate accurately, especially with the fast-approaching independent reading requirements of kindergarten. The cd players will be useful in providing each student with the opportunity to listen and read along to age-appropriate literature of their choice, thereby increasing their vocabulary. Through repeated listening sessions, students will not only experience more words, they will also have more exposure to appropriate reading pace and emphases, as well.
