Everyday, my 18 students come to our big square carpet in the center of our classroom, get comfortable and go on an adventure through an interactive read aloud? We read together, learn lessons, solve words, and so much more during that special time on the carpet! Our students get that same opportunity each and every day during reading workshop. However, our classroom libraries need your support. We need a variety of texts that cover different genres, levels, and topics for our students. Every day during reading workshop the students are taught a mini-lesson as a whole group. Then they are given plenty of time to engage independently in reading a variety of texts while the teacher conferences one-on-one or with small groups.
Having a variety of texts to read during reading workshop is imperative to helping our students grow as readers and writers.
The texts requested within this project were handpicked to meet the needs of the students within our classroom, their levels, and their interests. With your support, our students will have a variety of books to choose from on a daily basis to meet their needs as they grow as readers.
