Currently many of the lessons that I teach, in both regular biology and advanced courses, require students to engage with content online. Whether it is a video I have created, a simulation they are completing, or a podcast they are listening to, it is challenging because we don't have access to headphones. While most students have some form of airpod or wireless headphones, those aren't compatible with our school computers. So many students end up using closed captioning for videos or skipping the sound all together. This really takes away from the lesson and what I hope we can achieve! I also love to incorporate podcasts into the classroom, but to do that we have to move at the same pace which is limiting and frustrating for some students. Having a set of headphones would allow students to move at the right pace for their learning.
