Having a book or magazine for each student is crucial to their learning. The chapter books are classics and essential. In my opinion, all students should have the opportunity to read a book by Scott O'Dell. We will be studying each book and doing lesson plans and projects that go along with the book. The magazines are engaging and will keep their interest for the duration of our class session. All 2nd grade students will be using the magazines daily. Grades 3-5 will use the magazines in between each novel after it is studied. Most small group sessions last about 30 mins. per day. Special attention is focused on vocabulary and comprehension.
