Creating expressive art tiles that will go on display in the school's lobby will boost self confidence in our students and will increase their sense of pride. Not only is our art program an exciting class, it is a way for students of all backgrounds to express themselves in a therapeutic form as well. The students will create designs for their art tiles that express their interests and style. Under my direction we will produce sketches at first and fine tune them before painting our final tiles. A student who claimed to "not love art" began creating some amazing pieces in class and she later told me that she went home and told her family, "You have an artist in the family now!" This melted my heart to see this confidence emerge. Once our tiles have been designed and painted, we will varnish them and install them in a creative way in the lobby of our school for all to see. I also plan on photographing and printing cards for each of the students with their design. In addition, I added portfolio books to my project for a couple of graduating students who would like to pursue a career in the arts.
