Everyday my students get 45 minutes of independent reading time while I pull small groups. Research proves that the more students read and the larger volume of books consumed leads to more success in all areas of learning. My students voted on things that would help them become more engaged in reading. These flexible seating options would give them the choice of reading in a comfortable setting rather than in a hard chair and desk every day. Students would take turns using the bean bags and the folding chairs so that they can spread out in our classroom. When they have more space to think and focus in a comfortable setting, they will have less time to get distracted by others around them.
