The use of hands on materials and manipulatives when teaching is a valuable tool to utilize with all children. It is often more difficult for learners with disabilities to acquire new skills and the use of manipulatives can help them to use all of their senses to learn and retain information that would otherwise be more difficult. As a special educator, we are working on every area of development including, but not limited to, cognitive, social-emotional, behavioral, and language skills. Because it is sometimes more difficult for these types of learners to be motivated to learn, motivation is at the forefront of our teaching. It is our job as educators to help get our students excited to learn and offer them rewards and payoffs for doing so. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their motivation which will inevitably lead to their academic achievement.
