Working with young children can be a challenge. Personal space at this age is huge. The tables we have in our classroom right now can barely fit our 8 children per small group. There is very little wiggle room and no room for the teacher to sit unless at a corner. We use our tables for snack, small group activities, art projects and more. With larger sized tables we could provide more space for each child and the teacher could fit comfortably in with them as well. With the current curriculum we use there is a lot of partner activities and each group has their own set of materials. Our current table situation can make these activities a nightmare. The children have no space to spread out and often materials get all mixed up and arguments start. We also do a lot with writing and marker boards. If we had a marker board table, it would save trying to have each child have their own marker board that barely fits with our current tables. These tables would be such a great addition to our classroom.
