Currently, my classroom is lacking in multicultural books from authentic authors. We need an update! All students should be able to see themselves in books and relate to the characters. Authentically diverse books also help teach us about different cultures and perspectives than our own. It will help me achieve my goal of creating confident, open minded and resilient students! These books will be used for whole group Read-a-louds and available for student check out during independent reading. We need more children to see themselves as readers. Students will see themselves as readers and feel confident to share their joy of reading.
