Having multiple dry erase boards will help to foster stronger classroom engagement. Our classrooms are equipped with wall -to- wall chalk boards. Unfortunately, some of my students are unable to touch chalk and other objects due to tactile sensitivity. Tactile sensitivity prevents individuals from touching objects that can cause them discomfort. When students are unable to participate, they can lose focus and become distracting to themselves and others. Removing these barriers help to keep students on task which decreases the chances of students making errors.
Additionally, receiving the balance balls will work towards my students reaching their full potential in class. This will benefit those students with sensory processing disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and those who fidget. The balls allow students to move. Movement in some case stimulates the brain to increase engagement and focus.
As a special education teacher, I see how much the students want to be involved. Removing the struggles, they face will lead to a more proactive student. However, I need your help to ensure my students are given every opportunity to be successful. Thanking you in advance for all you do.
