The students in my classroom have been identified as struggling students because of their slower-than expected progression of speech and/or language development. Each student I work with requires more intensive, direct approaches to increase these delayed areas than what can typically be provided through a general education environment. In my classroom, these materials will intentionally create more opportunities for students to build speech and language skills. As a speech therapist, finding materials that will cover a wide range of speech targets, such as articulation, comprehension and expressive language is essential to making my mixed-needs groups successful. The picture books, photo decks and play sets I'm requesting will help promote a language-rich environment to target a variety of needs while maintaining student engagement.
