These hands-on tools for learning social skills will help my students become engaged within social emotional learning. The games that I have selected are all related to the social skills that my students are working towards mastering. Some of the games I have selected are geared towards helping children recognize their emotions; a skill vital to their success in school. Other games are made for practicing social skills such as following instructions, controlling emotions, taking turns, accepting consequences, and many more. I have seen how hands-on learning works within my classroom and hope by giving my students the opportunity to learn social skills in a hands on way, it will positively effect their behavior in and out of the classroom! All of my students are in an intensive social skills based program and work on learning and practicing social skills daily. They need to learn these skills to be successful in their academic careers and achieve their goals of transitioning back to their neighborhood schools once their behaviors have improved. Having educational social emotional learning games within my classroom, will help them achieve these goals.
