Giving my students flexible seating options will help to focus their minds on learning while they are as comfortable as possible in the classroom. For many of these students, my classroom is a safe place for those who do not have a place to call their own at home. A lot of my students have trouble sitting still for extended periods of time. But I have found when they are given more flexible seating options they are able to focus better and sit still for longer periods. Having multiple types of flexible seating options will help students to feel special without being out of the ordinary.
