The materials that we are asking for will directly impact our students. We are hoping that by purchasing various manipulatives and hands on activities/items, the students will be able to identify the necessity of as well as application of math, and all other subjects, in the real world and apply it in a more effective manner. We feel it is vital to be able to educate the child as a whole, thus enforcing the importance of being life long learners. This would include purchasing items that will help them become functional people in society as well as self sufficient in meeting their own needs. We would like to be able to offer classes that would teach the students how to cook, sew, do basic home repairs, as well as basic automotive repairs. This is something that our students have been asking for over the years, and this grant will give us an opportunity to purchase the materials to make it happen. Finally, we also have a small, but mighty campus. We offer amazing courses that would enable the students to explore a variety of fields. By creating a comfortable environment, with chairs and other furniture, it allows the teachers to do the preparation for classes and present the material in a comfortable manner, thus enhancing the educational environment. We also have provided "free phone charging" stations in each classroom. This ultimately gives the students an incentive to "charge" their phones during class, thus encouraging them to not be actively using them during lessons and class time. Having more of these available in each classroom would only enhance the instructional time teachers have while not "fighting" the constant cell phone drama.
