His music residencies enhance curriculum with arts-infused activities including student-led, collaborative song writing. Requiring perseverance and grit, song writing raises pride and self-esteem, building students' confidence in their abilities. Let's ROCK out, and provide a lifelong memory where our students will write and record their own original songs! David Simmons' music residencies integrate crucial mental health topics such as suicide, depression, and substance abuse alongside music education's other boundless benefits, empowering students to "find their voice." Additionally, students will receive contracted tutoring to help with reading, writing, and mathematics, boosting student's abilities as they complete the needed coursework to graduate.
