These books would help meet the needs of the different interests in my classroom. Often I will watch students look through the small basket of books I have and are not drawn into them. Reading is a large part of our curriculum and I want to make sure my students are enjoying that time at school. We often read as a class at the carpet and dive deeper into the texts by asking higher-level thinking questions. During this time students are engaged but I tend to lose their interest during independent reading time. If I had a variety of books I can see my class enjoying this time more and being able to dive into a good book. Often my students are having to bring books from home or go to our school library to get new books. The books we have are appreciated and taken care of and I think my students would be thrilled to have books they have heard of right at their fingertips in our classroom!
