The CPR kit will give students and staff the opportunity to learn proper skills that are needed in a medical emergency. The skills which will be obtained in a classroom setting will be turn keyed and students and staff will have the opportunity to practice on mannequins . The facilitator will assess students and take corrective action as necessary so that the community will be able to perform proper CPR technique to save a life. Ware, Massachusetts is a small community with only one hospital and limited medical resources. Having an additional fifteen individuals who can assist in an emergency would be a positive attribute. The CPR class will consist of a video, presented by the American Heart Association. There will be workbooks provided to the class and students and staff will have the opportunity both to share ideas and discuss situations. When the members pass the written exam, they will have an opportunity to practice then take the exam on the mannequin. For those individuals who pass the exam and qualify, we will hold a ceremony for family and friends to attend. At the ceremony, students will have the opportunity to discuss what they learned and we will hand out heart smart information to our guests.
