The materials that I am requesting will help students learn about the pet study in the creative curriculum. While resources and budgets are tight, it is important to give students the opportunity to learn and play with materials that will stretch their imaginations and help become curious learners. The books and materials that I have chosen will support students in exploring and investigating this topic in a fun and interesting way. Children learn best when they are engaged and can make meaningful connections to the material they are using. By studying pets, students can practice important skills while having fun. They can practice making patterns with the pet animal counters. As students pretend to purchase items to take care of stuffed pets, they will practice counting pretend money, taking on pretend roles, and making connections to real-world experiences. Each material requested will help expose my students to many concepts and skills needed for them to be successful learners. For example, the betta food and water conditioner will help students observe how the fish moves and lives while giving the opportunity to practice caring for another living thing. The books will help students to learn about things that I cannot bring into the classroom. The other toys will support students in building their cognitive skills, fine motor skills, language, literacy and math skills through play.
