My students will share the rug with their learning partners and a group of four, which we call a rug club. Students will always know where their partner is when it is time to work together, teach each other, and explain their thinking to increase learning. During our lessons, students are expected to "turn and talk" and work collaboratively with partners and "rug clubs."Sharing our learning makes learning stick, and also makes it more fun when we can talk with friends. Having a specific spot to sit during each learning time, reduces distractions, conflicts, and promotes positive social interaction, and communication around learning.
