The investigation of wave phenomena is a major unit of any physics course, both in high schools and college. Students need to perform hands-on experiments to see how waves actually behave. The Ripple Tank is the classic piece of equipment that can be used to demonstrate the reflection, refraction, diffraction, focusing of waves and more. Experiments have a significant effect on student preparation for the Regents Exam in Physics. Understanding wave phenomena gives students insight into the physics of light and sound. My students thrive in response to cool experiments. I believe this Ripple Tank will cement their understanding of waves.
