Developing strong reading skills in students is one of the critical goals of every early educator. It is through reading that students expand their vocabulary and learn about the world. Reading is also the key to success in spelling and writing. My students are currently learning to read, and they are both eager and excited about growing as readers. By providing my classroom with these materials, you will be helping them to grow as readers. You will also provide them with the necessary tools to succeed. These leveled books will help me to help my students better and make sure that they are progressing and meeting their reading needs. Not every student acquires reading skills at the same rate. Reading begins with mastering pre-literacy skills, including learning the alphabet and enhancing phonemic awareness. This is followed closely by phonics instruction that teaches children how to map sounds to letters and sound out words. The phonics dominos blends and phonics flashcards will also help with the necessary skills needed to grow as readers. The playdough will help my lower students with making letters out of playdough to assist in excellent motor skills and muscle memory of letters and words.
