My students represents cultures from all over the world and I want them to have access to books that represent them. Giving them access to titles written about students going through similar struggles as them in a historical context can help to see themselves as being capable of more. I want to give them a library as diverse and unique and special as they are. They deserve to be seen and heard in a library. I also want the white boards to help their voices and opinions become part of the classroom as well and not hinder them if they are shy and don't speak in front of the class.
