I work with Early Childhood (EC) Instructional Program specifically designed for students who are non-verbal and require maximum support across all developmental domains (communication, adaptive behavior, motor skills, and cognition). Our students are generally aged 3 to 5 years old and present with complex needs, including diagnoses such as severe Autism Spectrum Disorder. Every student uses AAC systems to express basic wants, needs, and ideas, as they do not have reliable speech. As the Speech-Language Pathologist, my role is central to developing the functional communication skills that unlock access to the curriculum and reduce challenging behaviors caused by communication frustration. We employ high levels of visual supports, routine-based instruction, and intensive one-on-one and small-group therapy.
