Computer Science is a quickly growing field! As a result, learning about programming and understanding computational thinking are key life skills that many students will utilize in their future careers regardless of what they choose to do. My goal is to give my students the opportunity to acquire these skills while learning about app creation. By using MIT's App Inventor, my students will create their own Android apps and then test the apps they create using the tablets from this project! Students will begin learning about App Inventor by creating apps together as an entire class in order to learn about the structure of App Inventor. They will learn how to design a graphical interface on their app as well as how to program each component (ie: button) or screen on their app. Once they understand how App Inventor works - they will be given the opportunity to brainstorm and create their own unique app! I look forward to seeing how motivated and excited my students will be as they improve their problem solving and creative skills in the computer science classroom!
