We work each day on reading goals and spend a chunk of time immersing ourselves in books daily. But our library is lacking. We need new books, innovative books, books that celebrate diversity and promote equity, and books that can engage. When this project is funded, I will be able to utilize our new books in engaging "shared reading" lessons together as a class, as well as individualized reading lessons, and independent reading time. The content of the books matters, and my students need to be drawn in and captivated in order to be able to focus on their reading.
