Kindergarten students learn to read, write, count, and add along with social and emotional skills. These are driven by state and district standards. The children do not get to choose what disciplines they are to learn, but they can choose where to sit. Choices are important. I often say this when modeling writing or drawing and coloring. Or, when helping students pick a book, and more importantly choose a friend. We all like making choices. Please give kindergartners the chance to make choices. Please help fund flexible seating and let my students make choices that may increase their skills and knowledge.
