Students in physical education at North Canyon will have the opportunity to learn use the punching bags and gloves to work on kicks, punches, strikes and self-defense techniques. In getting the equipment I hope that I will be able to contact someone in the community to volunteer their time to teach the students self-defense movements. This project will help them realize they are strong and if ever put in a situation they will be able to defend themselves. Aerobic kickboxing is a great cardiovascular workout and the equipment will also provide them with an opportunity to learn a new and exciting way to workout. Most of the students have never had the opportunity to practice punching or kicking because of they don't have the funds to go to a health club. If they enjoy the cardiovascular workout then they can convince their family or friends to find resources in the community to continue living a healthy lifestyle. This equipment will bring a variety to my current curriculum that is not offered in many high schools around the Phoenix area.
