These materials will help our most vulnerable and under-served student have a safe place to go and work through what life has been throwing at them. We serve homeless, low socio-economic status, foster, and english learners, and with those situations comes trauma. Our materials are going directly into a therapy room that our campus has opened up. These traumatized students are coming to school every day trying to learn, and now we will have a dedicated space for them to work through their big feelings and get back to the classroom so they can continue to learn and grow. In our therapy room, we plan on using play and art therapy techniques in order to help them develop essential coping skills and explore social/emotional topics that are stopping them from being able to learn in the classroom.
