I teach second grade for a brand new classical charter school. I am asking Donor's Choose to help me build a classroom library. Teaching second grade is new for me, so I need more books at the levels most needed by my students. My second graders are so incredibly hungry to read! They are blasting their way through all the books I have to offer, and, quite simply, need more high-quality literature to read. I have carefully selected these books for the lessons they teach, the quality of the stories, and their accessibility to a diverse range of learners. Every day, my students bring home books to read at home as well as use in a sustained reading time in class. My second graders are both learning to read and reading to learn, making a diverse, carefully curated library a must.
