My responsive classroom is a safe space for students to set and achieve their goals, but needs more tools to help students keep on track! To help students overcome low academic confidence and severe assessment-anxiety, I am hoping to get more fidgets and tools to help students keep themselves on task, calm and focused. I teach students to choose the right tools to solve their problems and overcome obstacles in order to learn, and having more access to materials in our classroom can help them understand how to better do this. Students currently rely on a set of stress balls and beanie babies to keep calm, especially during high stress activities in math and literacy. Having varied, flexible seating will offer students with challenges more choice to remain active in the classroom. Sensory fidgets and weighted items can help students with barriers to learning and trauma focus on the learning at hand!
