I am a special education teacher and I love to keep my diverse learners engaged. I have found it very difficult to soothe my students when upset from certain triggers. I find myself having to come up with creative solutions to keep a functional classroom culture. I start each morning with my routine of interactive videos played from my SMART board. Our morning videos displays phonemic awareness, number sequences, sight words, and online read-alouds. I teach diverse learners from K-2nd and they have a large range of different disabilities. My students suffer from sensory issues and a calm down area filled with a variety of sensory items will help them succeed academically. I requested several items used to help with sensory. The sensory cushions I requested are used to help my students stay calm and focus during instruction. The dough will help enhance fine motor skills and develop social skills. Tactile Numbers Match - Ups that was requested, will help my students build pre-writing skills. The magnetic numbers and letters that we are in need of will help master word building and help enhance memory recognition. Dinosaurs Read- Along that we so desperately need will help increase vocabulary being that I have several nonverbal students. It is my hope that a donor will supply the materials I requested because the items will help my students soar!
