My students are faced with a great deal of anxiety which carries over into their classroom experience. Having fidgets in the classroom helps to relieve stress and aids students in staying focused throughout the day. Sensory fidgets will help to keep students minds on task and prevent the escalation of problems due to restlessness and anxiety. Having sensory objects at their desk will create autonomy as well as limiting misbehaviors and cutting down on distractions by funneling their engagement to the lesson at hand. Students will use the fidgets in the chill out space as well as during independent work.
